VIEW REPORT
Summary
This copper-alloy fibula was excavated during the 2019 season in the South trench at Kaman-Kalehöyük. It arrived to the lab in two pieces, which appeared to join despite some loss of material at the break edge. The fibula was covered in voluminous green corrosion and burial deposits.

Treatment included mechanical cleaning under magnification in order to remove burial deposits and loose corrosion product. Once cleaned, the object was degreased in ethanol. The two pieces were then joined using 30% B48-N in 1:1 acetone:ethanol.
A custom foam support was created for the object. The housing and object were placed into an Escal bag with desiccated silica gel in order to maintain low humidity in storage.
